The launch of Bitan Chakraborty’s new Bengali book, Chinha, by Abdul Kafi, Assistant Professor, Department of Bengali, jadavpur University and Debapriya Bhattacharyya, formerly, Head of Bengali Department, Presidency University was today at the Story. This is the author’s second Bengali book of short stories containing seven stories. His first book, Santiram-er Cha, was also widely acclaimed and appreciated. After receiving much critical acclaim for Santiram-er Cha, Bitan Chakraborty’s first book of Bengali short stories, the author now publishes his second collection of stories, under the title Chinha. Chinha (The Mark) is a collection of seven stories that will enable readers to identify the often ignored signs of the day-to-day Bengali living. The collection will allow us to revisit memories, resulting in a revival of a few existential
C ueries, buried in our hearts for years.
Chakraborty’s other books include Abhinetar Journal (Bengali prose) and Sharanarthi (Bengali prose), which have been appreciated across India in several universities and seminars.
