Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor’s Stree is turning out to be the dark horse at the box office. The horror-comedy has over overpowered new releases Paltan and Laila Majnu by a huge margin. Stree raked in Rs 9.88 crore yesterday and now stands with the grand total of Rs 82.29 crore. Though it has faced a competition from Hollywood venture The Nun. But since The Nun has received mixed reviews, we are expecting Stree to dominate in the weekdays.Looking at the current trend, we are expecting the film to enter the Rs 100 crore club by the end of its second week.
It’ll be Rajkummar Rao’s first film to achieve this milestone. Apparently, many actors like Shahid Kapoor, Vicky Kaushal, Jim Sarbh, Kartik Aaryan entered the elite club this year.Made on the budget of Rs 20 crore, it had recovered its investment before the release through satellite, digital and music rights. Talking about the film, Stree is directed by Amar Kaushik and written by Raj Nidimoru and Krishna D.K, who are known for helming films Go Goa Gone, Happy Ending and Shor In The City. It also stars Pankaj Tripathi, Aparshakti Khurana and Abhishek Banerjee in pivotal roles.
