The first one of its kind, Rang De Basanti Dhaba revolutionised and refined the concept of a traditional street style âdhabaâ for aspirational Kolkata, starting its journey a decade ago with its flagship outlet in Sector V, Salt Lake. To elevate the dhaba experience further, Rang De Basanti Dhaba has now revamped their Sector V outlet.Â
The 115 seater outlet in Sector V, Salt Lake includes a live handi counter (a tribute to the popular dhabas of North India), outside seating area along with an open kitchen! Keeping in mind the comfort of diners, the outlet also provides the option of dining from the comfort of oneâs car with RDBDâs drive-through car service.Â
Centred around the premise of bringing the freshness and experience of a highway dhaba within a cityâs access, Rang De Basanti Dhaba – Diner has pushed the envelope further with a fresh new look for the interiors. The ambient lighting with quirky quotes painted on the walls, offers a festive and vibrant atmosphere, perfect for a hearty meal with friends and family. Diners can also spot hand painted wall murals like RDBDâs iconic tractor art depicting the evolution of Rang De Basanti Dhaba and the colourful Mela (fair) wall.Â
The casual dining restaurant has also revamped their menu which includes a plethora of both new and classic RDBD dishes. Several dishes from their carefully curated menu pay homage to the hidden gems of North India.Â
Utterly Butterly Chicken, Matia Mahal (RDBD’s tribute to Jama Masjidâs Aslam Chicken Corner), Jama Masjid Fried Chicken (JFC) from the streets of Jama Masjid, Delhi, Champaran Meat, Handi Se straight from Bihar, Amritsari Pindi Chane, Kale Wale, from the streets of Amritsar, Daryaganj special Tawa Mutton Mirch Meat and RDBD Special Handi Chicken, inspired from the streets of Lucknow, are some of their latest offerings.Â
Apart from these, the restaurant also offers a variety of desserts and beverages that include Pede Wali Lassi – a staple from the streets of Punjab and Tille Wali Kulfi. Besides, diners would also get a chance to rekindle their âbachpan’ with Rooh Aafza Tutti Frutti, Cassata Ice Cream and Swaad candies.Â
Speaking about the new menu, Chef Ajay Pal Singh said, “I travelled extensively to different corners of North India, exploring famous street food corners. It inspired us to curate a menu that reflects those hidden gems of India. While we have kept our popular dishes intact, we have also tried to bring newness to the experience by handpicking dishes from different parts of India and paying tribute to the authentic dhaba flavours. We have also added a few new dishes in our other RDBD outlets as well.âÂ
Also, in the same context AVP Operations Head, Mr. Raj Dwip Pandey said, “Itâs my greatest pleasure to witness how much love Kolkata has shown Rang De Basanti Dhaba over the past decade. Itâs time we give something back, and whatâs better than elevating the ordinary dhaba experience to a terrific diner one! The Rang De Basanti Dhaba-Diner aims to present a vibrant ambiance with a live counter, drive-through car service, and several other new experiences for our customers. We hope to be more transparent with our guests with a modern, open kitchen and a more hygienic approach.âÂ
