The main objective of the event is to encourage the weavers for continuous employment throughout the year for providing their Livelihood. The event is also conducted by the Government of Andhra Pradesh on the eve of ,ahela Baishakh”.
“PAHELA BAISHAKIr inauguration by minister Sri Swapan Debnath.There are about 38.46 lakh Handlooms working in India and approximately 130.00 lac handloom weavers are depending and getting employment directly or indirectly through this industry.
In Andhra Pradesh there are 13 districts, approximately 10 lakh weavers are working on 2.79 lakhs silk and cotton looms are depending on Handloom Industry and getting continuous employment directly or indirectly from this industry. Our main products are Mangalagiri cotton, Pondhuru Khaddar, Uppada Pattu and Venkatagiri Pattu sareeS
EXHIBITIONS:
‘Uhe objective of the Exhibition is to provide additional marketing avenues to the Primary Handloom Weavers Coop. Societies to dispose off their piled up stocks.
. Series of Handloom Exhibitions are being conducted in the State. To encourage the Handloom Industry, Andhra Pradesh Government has allowed 20% discount on the sale of Handloom cloth.
In this event Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Maharashtra, Odissa, West Bengal, Jammu and Kashmir, Uttar Pradesh etc., are participating.
Through this event we are expecting the approximate sales of Rs.5.00 Crores.
During the year 2017-18, to far the Andhra Pradesh State has organized (3) National Handloom Expo’s (NHE’s) and (5) Special Handloom Expo’s (SHE’s) sanctioned by Govt Of India, New Delhi and effected sales of Rs.8.50 Crores.
– We are humbly requesting all the Print and Electronic Media people to give vide publicity of this event and to encourage the Handloom Industry to sustain the Handloom weavers by purchasing the Handloom cloth and we also request the Kolkata people to avail this opportunity for encouraging the Handloom Weavers.
