Ahead of International Women’s Day, Viacon Marketing and Technologies has announced that it will implement menstrual leave for its female and trans women employees. On March 8th, all female and trans women employees of Viacon will be introduced to a new policy – 12 days of menstrual leave annually, with one leave each month to be effective from April 1st. This policy recognizes the physical and mental toll that menstruation can take on menstruators and aims to create a workplace environment that fosters their well-being. The new policy aims to destigmatize menstruation and provide a safe and respectful environment for menstruators to focus on self-care during this time.
On this International Women’s Day, Viacon Marketing and Technologies will introduce menstrual leave as a gift to its women and trans women employees. Upon recognising that empowering women goes beyond acknowledging their achievements, the company wants to create an environment that fosters their physical and mental well-being. It also demonstrates the company’s deeper understanding and support for their health and well-being #periodtoperiod.
Menstruation is a natural bodily function that can be debilitating for many menstruators, yet it is often stigmatised and considered taboo in the workplace. The policy is intended to remove the stigma and provide female and trans women employees with a safe and respectful space to thrive. The policy stipulates that menstruators will be granted a maximum of 12 menstrual leaves annually, with one leave each month. These leaves cannot be carried forward, encased, or swapped with other leaves and will lapse at the end of each month. Menstruators can avail themselves of these leaves without having to provide any medical certificate through the usual leave application process as per the company procedures.
The addition of this program to trans women shows the company’s dedication to diversity and fostering a work-friendly environment for all. Presently, Viacon has 29 female employees, but none identify as trans women.
“As a startup, we wanted to be progressive in our handling of issues like menstruation. With a greater number of women than ever before in the workforce, we wanted to create a liberal culture,” stated Ejaz Ahmed, Chief Operating Officer, Viacon.
“One that understands that menstruation affects the well-being and productivity of women. Menstrual leave of one day a month, as well as access to hygienic and wellness supplies in the workspace, will certainly bring women closer to a happier workplace. We hope that this would set a positive precedent for other businesses,” he further explained.
“Empowering women isn’t just about celebrating their achievements; it’s also about creating an environment that fosters their physical and mental well-being. On this Women’s Day, Viacon Marketing And Technologies is proud to implement menstrual policies for our female team members, creating a safe and respectful space for them to thrive. The idea behind implementing the period policy is to ensure that female employees are comforted during their period cycle and don’t have to struggle in commuting to and from their homes to the workspace,” said Mashum Mollah, Chief Executive Officer, Viacon.
Viacon’s menstrual policy is a significant step towards creating a more inclusive work environment that acknowledges and supports the physical and mental health of its female and trans women employees. The company hopes that other businesses will follow suit and implement similar policies to destigmatize menstruation and create a more inclusive and supportive workplace.
📌 About Viacon Marketing & Technologies:
Viacon started its journey as a digital marketing agency catering to both national and global clients. But very soon, we figured out that technology and automation can be leveraged for creating world-class global products. We began our journey with Red Hat Media, our very own digital publishing wing, extending it to become a family of over 100+ blogs across different niches.
And that wasn’t all – we followed up on the launch of RHM with that of Blogger Outreach, a unique SaaS platform. We believe that our consistently innovative spirits have helped us identify the loopholes located within the entire digital ecosystem. At the moment, we are developing two new products, Legal Marketing Agency and Smart Coders.
📌 About Menstrual Leave Policy:
The menstrual leave policy is applicable to all female and trans women employees of Viacon and will be calculated on a yearly basis. This policy will be put into effect from the 1st of April.
