Traffic Gastropub kicked off the cake mixing season ahead of the Christmas season by hosting its annual Cake Mixing Ceremony. Guests rolled up their sleeves and helped make a hearty mixture of dry fruits and nuts for plum cakes with spirits. Rajdeep Gupta, a Bengali actor was also invited. Aside from the invited guests, the pub’s owner was also present.
According to Siddharth Gupta, Director, Traffic Gastropub, “Cake mixing is an art, it comes from European Tradition and we are delighted to introduce it in our restaurant. We are very hopeful to retain a good customer base this Christmas season.”
When it comes to the cake mixing ceremony, I believe it is one of the most cheerful and enjoyable events. To prepare a classic plum cake, people get together and blend various dried fruits in liquor, which is then fermented for 45 days. We call December the gala month of the year, the festive spirit just adds life to everything around – says Shekhar Chatterjee, Director, Traffic Gastropub
The cake-making process began with the guests receiving aprons, gloves, and Santa caps. Following that, the chefs, other members of the pub’s staff, and guests gathered to mix the ingredients. The fruits and nuts were placed in a large container, and the spirits were poured over them. The mixture was then tossed and turned until they were completely saturated with the spirit. Christmas décor and live crooning added immensely to the camaraderie of the event. This was followed by a scrumptious spread by the culinary maestros of the pub to celebrate the festivities with a perfect blend of Christmas spirit and cheer.
