The Ambassador of His Majesty the King of Morocco to the Republic of India, H.E. Mr. Mohamed Maliki, inaugurated on the 23rd of January, 2021, the Honorary Consulate of the Kingdom of Morocco in Kolkata (capital city of the State of West Bengal) during an official ceremony. Mrs. Rashmi Chowdhary, a prominent Indian Businesswoman, was appointed as Morocco’s first Honorary Consul to the State of West Bengal.
Addressing the audience, Ambassador Mohamed Maliki underlined that the opening of the Honorary Consulate in West Bengal will contribute to expanding the relations between India and Morocco in various areas, including trade, investment, tourism and people-to- people exchanges.
Highlighting the excellent political relations between India and Morocco, Ambassador Maliki also pointed out the attractiveness and business opportunities in Morocco. He also emphasized, on this occasion, that the Business communities of both countries should benefit from the momentum given by the historical visit of His Majesty the King of Morocco to India in 2015, after which bilateral relations have developped steadily and reinforced greatly at all levels.
The inaugural program, which was attended by prominent Indian dignitaries, businesspersons, media and family members, was organized while undertaking all precautions regarding the Covid-19 pandemic.
During his visit to Kolkata, Ambassador Mohamed Maliki will meet with high offcials of West Bengal and will interact with the medias.
