Manipal Hospital, Salt Lake, Kolkata, the second-largest healthcare provider, conducted a wellness and awareness program in association with Kalindi Senior Citizens Association. The session was conducted for senior citizens on Lower Urinary Tract Symptoms (LUTS) by Dr. Kaushik Chandra Mallik, Consultant Urologist, Manipal Hospital, Salt Lake Kolkata. There was an interactive Q&A session on prostate problems amongst senior citizens which was attended by around 85-90 people.
The session was aimed at providing insights on prostate problems and other urinary issues commonly faced by the elderly people. The primary goal of the session was to equip participants with knowledge on lower urinary tract symptoms and provide insights into preventive measures. Dr. Kaushik Chandra Mallik described the two broad categories of symptoms: storage symptoms and voiding symptoms.
Dr. Mallik stressed that awareness and timely intervention can significantly improve the lives of those affected. He said, “Understanding the signs of ailments and approaching the physician for medical advice is crucial for preventing damage of the urinary tract.”
